POST-WAR PROBLEMS

KING’S HOPE FOR A STABLE PEACE. - Published in "The Times.” LONDON, September 13. His Majesty’s* reply to the address from the Convocation of York refers to the depression following .the war, and says: “A stable peace is the goal to which we must unceasingly labour. I feel confident that my Ministers, at home and in the Dominions, will keep it unwaveringly, before them. I am deeply touched by the generous and whole-hearted loyalty of the welcome to the Prince of Wales on his Dominion tour. It is a cause for- deep and sacred relief, for which we owe thanks to God, that in the answer to my appeal 'a new* sign of hope has arisen m Ireland.' I pray the promise of a hew era held out may bo realised; that the Irish people ‘may be united one to another in peace and goodwill.”
