ACROSS COOK STRAIT

ANOTHER AEROPLANE ARRIVES. Another flight across Cook Strait is to be chronicled. An Avro ’plane, owned by the New Zealand Aero Transport Company, of Timaru, and piloted by Mr 7. C 3. Mercer, arrived about,half-past five last 1 night, and, after circling over the efty, alighted on the recreation ground at Lyall Bay. The aerial -■'trip was commenced on Wednesday, the Avro arriving at Christchurch, toe first stage of the journey at midday. Kaikoura was reached last night, and the machine came on to Wellington ■ yesterday afternoon. Two passengers accompanied toe pilot. The Avro is of the two-passenger type, and is fitted with a 100-h.p. Gnome Monousuappe engine of the rotary type.
