Limited, Palmerston North, report on their Palmerston North sale on Thursday, August 22nd, 1921: —We had a fair entry of both sheep and cattle, which practical 1-y all changed hande at current rates. There was a keen and improved demand for all classes of dairy stock and stores sold at equal to last week’s rates. SANDON~HOGGET SALE. Dalgety end Company, Limited, Palmerston'North, report having held their ninth annual Saudon hogget sale on Thursday, 25th instant. The yarding comprised some 4040 hoggets, which were offered to a fairly large attendance. Competition was restricted and a number of pens failed to change hands at auction, though several sales were effected afterwards. Quotations: —Fair mixed hoggets 9s, small ewe hoggets 7s 6d to 9s 9d, fair wether hoggets 9s, good wether hogmrts 10s Id, 11s 3d to 11s Bd, good mixed hoggets 12s to 12s 3d, good ewe hoggets 12s 5d to 12s 9(1. CUSTOMS REVENUE. The Customs revenue received at Wellington. on Saturday totalled A 2237 4s 3d. Some idea of the pfrogress the dairying industry has made in Shannon during the last ten or twelve years can be gathered from the following figures:— In 1907. the year the present dairy company was formed, their output for the season was 90 tons of butter. In 1910 it hud increased to 170 tons, tho price 'or butter-fat then being 10Jd, and they paid out to suppliers the sum of A 11,271 14« 6d, and A7IB 18s 6d in wages. For the year just past, 455 tons of butter have been manufactured, and A 113,097 18s 9d was paid to suppliers, being at the rato of 2s 8d per lb for fat. The wuges have amounted to A 1745 17s 3d.
