THE SECOND TEST

NEW ZEALAND TEAM SELECTED

ROBERTS STILL EMERGENCY

A Association telegram from Auckland states that the selectors have chosen the following fifteen to meet the Springboks in the second test match at Auckland nex: Saturday:— Full-back, Kingston; three-quarters, J. Steele, O. G. Aitken and P. Storey; five-eighths, M. Nieholts and C. Bade--1 ey; half, H. E. Nioholla; wing forward, J. G. Donald; forwards, front row, K. Hughes and W. Duncan; second row, McLean, J. Moffitt and J. Richardson; back row, West and B. Beilis.

Emergencies; Back, E. Roberts; forward, R. Fogarty. Mr A. E. Neilson, of Wellington, will referee.

There are no material changes in the team as compared with the fifteen which were victorious in the first test match. West (Taranaki) replaces White (Southland) in the forwards, and McLean (Poverty Bay) goes in in place of Fogarty, the former having been unable to play before owing to an injury. The fact that Fogarty has been relegated to the emergencies will doubtless cause surprise as the opinion was freely expressed that this player was the outstanding forward at Dunedin. It is also to be noted that in the face of all that has been said regarding the exclusion of Roberts, the selectors have not seen fit to include the “star” Wellington back. All that can be said is that the selectors must havp been perfectly satisfied with the exhibition given by the New Zealand backs in the first test. ihe Wellington members of the New Zealand team—M. and 11. E. Nicholls, G. G. Aitken (captain of the first test team), J. Moffitt, and E Hughe®— left for Auckland by last night’s, train. The brothers Nioholla given a most enthusiastic sendoff at Petone, while at Wellington the quintette wore wished “the best of luck” by hundreds of supporters. Some of the southern members of the team also went north. The whole team will go into training for a week under the guidance of the famous All Blacks A. McDonald and W. J. Stead, who trained the New Zealanders for tlio first test. After the second test those members includes] jn the Wellington team to play against Auckland will remain in Auckland to iontiniie training with the Wellizugon representatives.
