A conference of business men interested in the island trade discussed Auckland’s position, in view of the Fijian Government’s arrangement with tho Commonwealth line for a steamship connection between Britain, Fiji, and Australia. Emphasis was laid on tho decline of tho Auckland trade of recent years, and on the need for a. regular service to recover it. A committee was appointed to confer with the Chamber of Commerce,
