THE LATE MR KNOX GILMER

A MOST lAIPRES6IVH FUNERAL. There was a large gathering of representatives of all. clauses oi tire cumin unity at St. Peter’d Church, Willis street, yesterday morning on the occasion of the funeral of the late Mr K.nox 014mer. The service, which was fully choral, was- of a most impressive character. The Ven. Archdeacon Watson (vicar) officiated, being assisted by Canon Bean (Christchurch), and the Rev. W. Hobday, of Croydon. The Funeral March was very finely played; and. by special request, the hymift, “Abide With Me/' was filing by the choir and congregation. Dr. Hamilton Gilmer (brotluvr of the deceased), Dr. Herbert, Dr. Morice, Mr T. E. Y. Seddon, ALP., and -Ur Prank Dyer (brothers-in-law) were the chief mourners, and there were also present Messrs A. B. Hamilton and J. iht. and J. Knox Glover (cousins of the deceased). The late Mr Gilmer was a member of the Masonic Order, and there was a large attendance of members of the order, headed by Mr W. H. Buddie, of Lodge Aorangi. Ainonrr the other.? present were Messrs .T. P 7 Firth (ex-head-master of the Wellington College), R. McCallum, M.P., W. Bethune, T. Brodie, and two prefects of Wellington College, besides numerous representatives of the club© and other organisations of which the deceased woe a member. At the church* Messrs Hamilton Gilmer, \Soo*bie and Richard Gilmer, R. • Darroch, A. Wylie* and R "Elliott were the pall-bear-ers; and at the cemetery members of tlio Masonic Order acted in that capacity. The service nt the graveside,.was conducted by the Ven. Archdeacon Watson, assisted l>y Canon Bean, and the Masonic serviico was afterwards read by Mr H. Buddie on of the bretlirem. The many messages of .condolence received hy the relatives of the deceased included .cablegrams from the Prime Minister (the Right Hon. W. P. Massey), Sir Joseph and Lady Ward, beside* last tributes from the Acting-Prime Minister (Sir Francis Boll), and other members of the Cabinet, members of both Houses of the Legislature, th© president and members of the Wellesley Club, and the Wellington Dental Association. A large number of beautiful wreaths and other floral tributes was received, amongst those who sont them beinp- Sir Joseph and Lady Ward and the Wellington College Old Bo3*s’ Association. chairman, Mr P. Cattle, paid a high tribute to the late Mr Gilmer, who had assisted tho Dental Department of the Hospital ever since its inception, having been a dental surgeon on th© honorary Vtafl and having taken a great inter&st and' a very active part in its \>ork. A feeling and eulogistic reference to tho deceased as a man of kind, genial disposition. &nd greatly beloved, was also made br the Rev. "Dt. J. Kennedy Elliott.
