SOCCER FOOTBALL
BROWN SHIELD MATCH. ON BASIN RESERVE TO-MORROW. Canterbury (challengers) will play Wellington (holders) on the Basin Reserve to-morrow (Saturday). Tho meeting of those teams in the past has always provided fast and scientific football. This year the southern, team is' a particularly strong combination, including such wellknown players as Swift, Flood, Mitchell, Dowker and Norman. “Jimmy” Smith, who in past seasons represented Wellington at outside right, is also in tho Canterbury team. The local selectors have chosen a stronger team than, the one which defeated Wanganui three weeks ago. Tho game should therefore prove to be a fine exhibition of football, and the result will be probably in doubt until the final whistle sounds. A curtain-raiser to tho big match will bo provided by the second division representatives of tho two provinces-ii As junior football is particularly good this season in both Christchurch and Wellington, the game will ho well worth going up early to see. The following will represent. Canterbury juniors: Luke (St." Albans) O’Flaherty (Excelsior) Colville (St. Albans), Bansome (Y.M.C.A.), Muir (Excolsior). Bowden (Y.M.C.A.), O’Callaghan (Bxcolsior), Carey (St. Albans), Green (Excelsior), Mcleod (Excelsior).
