Todd and Anderson (Australia) defeated Bennett and Holmes (Canada), 6—2, 6—3, 6—l. (Received July 27, 9.10 p.m.) NEW YORK, July 26. Toronto reports state that despite the rain, which seemed likely to cause postponement, the doubles match was completed on a. French ola-y count. Todd and Anderson from the first demonstrated that they were 'superior in all departments of tennis. The Canadians never showed the form they exhibited in previous matches. Thb Australians will now meet the English. Two singles will be played to-morrow, but these will he merely exhibitions. ’ INDIAN TEAM DELAYED. LONDON, July 26. Owing to the fire on the Mauretania, the Indian Davis Cup team will be unable to keep its fixture against the Japanese in Chicago, and lias, therefore, asked for a few days’ grace. Otherwise the team will "be compelled to scratch.
