HEAVY SPANISH LOSSES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. MADRID, July 26. A well-informed source estimates the Spanish losses at Melilla at five thousand killed, wounded, and prisoners. The Spanish forces at Sididris aro in a critical position. An attempt to evacuate them by sea had to be stopped, as the Moors’ firing caused heavy losses.
