TAXI-DRIVER’S DEBTS
MEETING OF CREDITORS. “NOT FITTED FOR BUSINESS.” , The adjourned meeting of the credii tors of Norman E. Page, labourer, formerly a taxi proprietor, was held yesterday afternoon, the Official Assignee (Mr S. T, Tansley) presiding. The bankrupt’s books were produced, and he Btated that he attributed his failure principally to domestic trouble—the serious ill-liealth of his wife—and to having taken over the garage from Mr Deckston. As against debts totalling £635, his only assets were book debts amounting to £IOO, and a claim against Fletcher and Co. for damages due to the collapse of a wall. He stated that he was sued by Several creditors, and owing to the judgments given , against him he filed his petition. The Official Assignee remarked that tho debtor was insolvent upwards of a year ago, and should have filed then. However, he did not think there was any criminal intent on his part. On the motion of Mr Palliser, seconded by Mr Deokston, tho meeting of creditors resolved : ‘ ‘That the bankrupt is not a fit and proper person to carry on business on his own account, and that his discharge he opposed until he makes some attempt to pay his creditors.” The meeting was then adjourned sino die.
