NEWCOMERS ARRIVE
ANOTHER 300 LAND AT AUCKLAND. BY PAPAROA FROM . LONDON. A further 300 passengers arrived at Auckland from London and Southampton by the Paparoa. The overseas Bteamer anchored in, the stream, and after being given heir clearance by the port doctor, berthed alongside the Queen’s wharf. Of the passengers who arrived by the Paparoa only about 100 have come out nominated by people in New Zealand or under the auspices of the Government. The new arrivals were met by Mr H D. Thomson, Under-Secretary for Immigration, and his staff, including Major Green, of the Salvation Aranv. These officers gave every assistance in supplying any necessary information to the newcomers The Wellington contingent loft Auckland by the Main Trunk express at 7.10 on Friday evening, and arrived at Wellington on Saturday. They were met by representatives of Government departments, the Sa.lv ation Army, and others, and were given all the assistance possible.
