GLUES’ ANNUAL MEETING VARIOUS subjects dealt with. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Country Racing Clubs’ Association wag held in "Wellington last nifirht. Mr Albert Bruce presided. The president remarked that during the year the association's efforts to secure rehandicapping instead of field penalising had met with a gratifying measure of success. One delegnte said that there was a rumour afloat that one small club was likely to bo wiped out, and it was resolved that if any suc-h injustice was attempted on any club affiliated with the association the association would lend rts power to prevent such a thing. On th© subject of the appointment of racecourse detectives, it was resolved to oppose the proposal that they should be appointed by the Racing Conference. Tho president moved: "That this association consider rnat clubs are entitled to receive a portion of the percentage deducted from totalisator investments, and suggests that the Rules of Racing be amended and that • in lieu of the net proceeds being devoted to- .stakes the compulsory limi£ be fixed at 75, per cent., or that th© amount paifl in income tax and local taxation be allowed to be de- i ducted from the amount received from totalisator investments/' Mr W. Jewell seconded, and th emotion was carried. It was resolved to ask for the, carriage of brood mares free one way on Uhe railways. Officers were elected as follows: sident, Mr A. Bruce; jrvice-president, Mr D. J. Evans; North Island representatives, the Hon. El "YV. Alison and Air W.' Jewell; South Island representatives, Messrs J. H. Finney and J. Kennedy.
