SCHOOL STATIONARY
SHOULD THE STATE SURREY? At the council meeting of the Central Chamber of Commerce, yesterday, Mr A. Leigh Hunt pressing, a some-what-lengthy discussion took place on the following motion by the chairman: “The chamber. opposes the pro* popal thaf the State should undertake the supply, of school books until it is clearly shown that: (1) The selling price, l including all overhead charges, mil be less than at present; and (2) the system of distribution will be more efficient than existw at the present time.’ 7 The motion was carried.
