POLICE, BY-LAW, AND CIVIL CASES. Mr F. K Hunt, S.M., dealt with police cases at the Magistrate’s Court jesterday. Three first offending inebriates were given, the usual treatment. Richard vVhitaker, who made, his. fourth appearance for drunkenness and-was also charged with a breach of his prohibition order, was sent to Pakatoa for a period of twelve months* for a "rest cure." TTilliam H. Gibson, who was charged with disobeying his maintenance order, was remanded to appear at Christchurch on July 15th. BY-LAW CASES. Mr F. K. Baldwin, who also passed a stationary tram car, was fined 10s and costs. Convicted of being the owner of unregistered dogs, H. Bates and E. Cotter were ordered to pay costs, while A. Sutherland andv.T., Walker were each fined 10s and oosts. George V. Stevenson, for driving without lights, was fined 20s, and a further XOs for failing to stop when required. On two charges'of failing to show a tail light, on his oar, E. Doull was fined 5s and costs. . . „ For allowing his chimney to catch fire, H McLachlan was fined 5s and costs 7s.
