COST OF THE LEAGUE
A PLEA/ FOR ECONOMY. .Australian and X.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, May 14. The “Westminster Gazette’6’’ correspondent at Geneva forecasts the report of the Commission on the cost of the League of Nations. He states that it recommends a reduction in the Secretary-General's salary and allowance from £IO.OOO to £BOOO. The salaries of minor officials are not too large, considering the cost of living in Geneva. The League’s headquarters must be transferred to Vienna, Fontainbfeau, or Brussels, to sensibly reduce the cost of the secretarial .offices.
