BOLT WITH A HORSE. REFORMATIVE TREATMENT. On a charge of stealing a horse, valued at £lO, and belonging to Ronald McChesney, a young man named John George Win ton, 18 yearn of age, was sentenced to a term of reformative treatment not exceeding two years, by Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Magistrate’s" Court, on Saturday. For the police, Sub-Insoector Willis stated that the offender had been an inmate of Wereroa, and absconded on May 6th. Whilst a sports gathering was in progress at the recreation grounds, Otaki, he had taken a home from outside, and journeyed to Wellington, where, probably fearing recognition, be went to the Hutt and managed to exchange the horse for another. From there he went to Fe&therston, where his actions led the police to place him under arrest. The young man had been sentenced at Dunedin in 1917 on two charges of theft, but had absconded in 1920. He was returned to Wereroa, after being arrested at Palmerston North. How. ever, on May 6th of this year, he had again absconded and stolen the hoist which led to his appearance in court.
