A meeting of the New Zealand Council of the Football Association was held last night. Mr W. G. Bryce wae in the ch<aii. The Wanganui Association wrote, intimating that the game of soccer had been introduced. Four schools were now " playing.l A letter was received from the Southland Association, stating that it was again affiliating. The news was welcomed. and the application was adopted. The challenge for the Brgwn Shield was confirmed by the Wanganui Association. Wanganui was granted permission to plav Hawera on June 3rd. South Auckland Association wrote, that it was desirous of roaffiliatiom. The secretary read a letter, indicating that there was every prospect of establishing an association in the Builer district. Mr A. E. Gibbs wrote from London, saying he was eorry, but not surprised to loam, that soccer was being governed so weakly in Australia. “Surely, however, before long the right man to hold the reins there will be found. ... We must all wait and eee.” . NEW SOUTH.WALES TEAM’S VISIT. The secretary reported that a cable messago had been sent -to the New South Wales Association, stating that the necessary guarantees for the visit of a team to New Zealand would be forthcoming. The Wellington. Auckland, Otago, and •Canterbury Associations wrote that there would be no trouble in guaranteeing -2300 each towards the expenses for the New South Wales tour. It was decided that, as no reply had been received from the New South. Wales Association, action in regard to the matches of the New South Wale® tour be held over till next meeting.
