DISCUSSION AT CHRISTCHURCH. rvn I’"!'*!® ,«cnrr vttov CHRISTCHURCH, April 27. At a special general meeting of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce the report of the council with respect to Customs tariff was disciussed. The council recommended, the chamber to refrain from taking any part in the tariff controversy at present. It was resolved that the chamber should urge the Government to appoint a Royal Commission of the best qualified representative men to inquire into the proper principles and incidence pf all taxa- ■ tion and make recommendations as to all taxes direct and indirect.
