SHOOTING TRAGEDY

THE DEATH OF P. R. ELLIOTT. The inquest into the death of Patrick Richard Elliott, of Ongoroto and the magisterial inquiry into the charge against Hakaxaia Te Kahu, of murdering Elliott wore resumed at Rotorua yesterday, Mr W. G. Kenrick, S.M., and Mr McDowell, acting-coro-ner, sitting together. There are thirtyfive witnesses, and thq inquiry is not expected t.o finish until Friday. The evidence yesterday was principally concerning the movements of Hakaraia and Elliott prior to the latter’s death, and as to the nature of the injuries which caused his death—injuries said to have been caused by the simultaneous discharge of two barrels of a shotgun.—Press Association.
