SECTARIAN BATTLES
FRICTION IN MADRAS PRESIDENCY. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association (Received April 25, 5.5 p.m., DELHI, April 24. There has been serious religious rioting at Alantholi, in the Madras Presidency, between Catholics and Protestants in recent years. It is stated that a number of Catholics turned Protestant, causing an annual source ■of strife. During the Catholic Epiphany procession an armed crowd of fire hundred interfered with the procession. Rioting followed. Catholic houses were burned. One Catholic was clubbed to death. His assailant was -sentenced to death at Tinsqyalljt
