NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW

PALMERSTON NORTH'S 810 J3VENT. We are advised that the dates of the above event are June 21st, 22nd. 23rd and 24th. This i« the nineteenth of these successful eh ows to be held by the Mjan'awatu and West Coast A. alul I>. Association, at Palmerston North. It, is certainly a splendid opportunity for the dairy farmer, as there are always good displays of daily machinery, and the progressive man should be on the continual lookout to keep his farm stocked with the latest and most up-to-date machinery. The purebred cattle halo is 'held on the Wednesday and Thursday in each year. The Department of Agriculture is again staging their exhibit, which has been missing from the show for a couple of years. Not only are there classes for the dairying community. but displays of seeds and grain; field roots, farm products, to say nothing of such necessities as potatoes and vegetables. It is at this June show that the apple championship contest is. held. There are many classes of interest open to the industrious housewife, including home cookery, preserves, and pickles, with separate classes for girls under sixteen. In the farmers* butter contests there are two classes; one for fresh butter and the second for fresh non-separator butter. Needlework and photography divisions also figure in the prize list.
