LAND VALUES
AND SLUMP IN PRODUCE. A REFERENCE IN THE HOUSE. In view of the great fall in values of produce, which fixed tho valuo of land, would the Prime Minister hold up the valuing of the land at least until the present depression passed away and productive values returned to something in keeping with recent valuations? asked Mr J. R. Hamilton (Awarua) in the House of Representatives yesterday. Mr Massey replied that he did not know that what the hon. member suggested could be done; but he was willing to look into it. Ho had no doubt that tho Valuation. Department would take into accoumt tbe present vain© of l«nd as compared with, the value say, of two* years ago. Ho assured the hon. member that tho Government would do no injustice in the matter. , m _ Mr J. McCombs (Lyttelton); The law provides for a revaluation at the option of the owner.
