“CAN’T HEAR”
IN LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. '•INTOLERABLE NOISES” AND KNOCKINGS.” Speaking in the Legislative Council yesterday the Hon. O. Samuel mentioned the difficulty of hearing what is said in the chamber. He was quite sure no honourable member had heard everything that had been said. Just outside the building an intolerable noise was going on all the time. Could not something be done to stop tho marble-outting just outside and the knocking inside the building while the Council wae sitting. The Speaker said he could not stop the marble-cutting, but that he had twice sent a messenger out to stop the knocking. Ho had taken steps to have curtains hung in the chamber, and this should improve matters.
