J THE WADLSTOWN SOCIETY. INTERESTING EXHIBITION AT ANNUAL SHOW. The autumn show of tho Wadestown Cottage Garden and Beautifying Society was opened by Mr R. A. AYrignt. M.l’., on Saturday, in tile club room, Pitt street. In the course of his ivin: i-.-Mr Wright said he hoped the various garden societies of tbs suburbs of Wellington would hold a combined show in the 'lown Hall at a future date, and he felt sure such a show would be largely attended, especially by the town clwellei6 who had no gardens. -fl' the conclusion of the show the exhibits were auctioned, and tho proceeds will be added to the iunds of the Cadets and Territorials’ Community Club. Mill’. Westbury judged the* vegetables anil flowers, and Mr F. Hilton tho homo products. In the cut flowers class, Mrs iiirett secured first prizes for six distinct varieties, for sweet peab, dahlias. Collarefte dahlias, asters, as well a 6 second prizes for roses, twelve varieties of flowers, and antirrhinums. .Mr R. G. Dixon took first prizes for six roses, and cactus dahlias, and third for antirrhinums. Mr A. L. Wicks was first in th£ twelve flowers any variety class, anil stocks, second in sweet peas, six varieties flowers. and cactus dahlias. Mrs Watkins took first prize for antirrhinums, second for collection of .dahlias, and for three varieties of asters. Other results were: Child’s buttonhole. Miss E. Bass 1, Miss G. Watkins 2, Master W. Prince 3, children’s bowl of flowers. Miss M Bass J Miss N, Sirott 2; bridal bouquet, Mrs Bell 1; champion rose Mr ft. G. Dixon. In the numerous vegetable classes, Mr S. Watson took six- firsts and three seconds; Mr G. Nash three firsts and (wo seconds; Mr A. Bowie two firsts and five seconds; Mr A. 1,. Wicks two firsts and three seconds; Mr ,T. E. Bass two firsts; Mr R. G. Dixon one first,/ two seconds and a third; Mrs Connor/ one first; Mrs E. Wiffen one first Air A. Parlane one second and one third; Mrs MacDonald one. second, and Mrs Hilkio one second. In fruit, the first prize for th'- best collection went to Mr F. X. Itj iso, and that for Care gooseberries to Mrs MacDonald. Mrs E‘. Cook eeouro-l four first prizes and one second for home pr/iduct.. ; Mrs J. .FI. Bass one first and one second: Mrs E. Wiffen one first; Mrs W. Prince one second, and Mrs MacDonald one second.
