In response te a call the Constable street fire station sent a motor-reel with a dozen firemen to the scene. After an arduous fight with the flames the hrigadesmen managed to beat out the blaze before it could get among the pine trees in the park. About five acres of bush were burnt. The police were subsequently engaged in investigating the cause of the outbreak, and more is likely to be heard of the matter.
