LOWER HUTT BOROUGH
MEETING OF COUNCIL. The fortnightly meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council was held last evening, with the Mayor (Mr E. P. . Rishftorth) in the chair. Others present were Councillors A. Mitchell, W. B. Hardy, W. Meldrum, A. J. Hobb*. E. 9. Guiness, A. Macaskill, and W. T. Cotton. The Commissioner of Police wrote explaining the necessity for the temporary withdrawal of Constable Holmes from Lower Hutt. for service at Petone. The deputy-chief inspector of explosives wrote enclosing a copy of the proposed regulations dealing with storage of petroleum, etc. This matter is to be dealt .with later. A communication wae received from Mr E 5. P. Bunny enclosing a form of eonisent bv the council as caveators to a 'transfer of a property In the estate of the late John Cudbv for execution.This was granted. USE OF RECREATION GROUND.
The chairman of the management committee of the Hutt Rugby Football Club. Mr Mcßain, wrote re the council's action in giving the Hockey Association the sole right to use the Recreation Ground during the ensuing football season. A resolution was moved by the Mayor that the executive of the Hockev Association and headmaster of the local schools confer with a view to deciding the matter of allowing the grounds to be used bv others. The- Hutt District Club was granted the use of the Recreation Ground for a cricket match. Hutt Club v. Nelson touring team on Good Friday. .
