Special firing of the three-pounder and six-pounder quick-firers at Fort Dorset took plaoo on Saturday afternoon on the occasion of an “At home?' held by No. 3 Company. N.Z. Garrison Artillery (Wellington Division), under the control of Captain Abel, N.Z.G.A. There was a largo attendance of friends of the men. During the afternoon a riflo shoot too kplace, and was won by Bombardier Short, with Bombardier Martin second. An athletic meeting was also held during tho afternoon. Daring one period of seven years over 8000 earthquake shocks were recorded in Japan. % Asbestos thread cun Ire spun so fine that it takes about 32,000 ft to weigh a pound.
