EFFORT TO PROVIDE HIM WITH SAFE SEAT.
(Received March 13, 11.40 p.m.) LONDON. March 12. With the object of providing a safe seat for Sir A. Griffith-Boscawen, Lieu-tenant-Colonel Dennis Boles has resigned the Taunton seat. Mr James Lunnon. organising secretary of the agnoultural workers, will oppose -Sir Gnffitaisea wen. The Dudley by-election, at which Sir A. Griffith-Boscawen was seeking reelection as Minister far Agriculture, resulted: — Mr J. Wilson (Labour) 10,244 Boscawen (Coalition-Unionist) ... 9,968
Sir A. Griffith-Boscawen’s refusal to remove the embargo on Canadian and other overseas live cattle, which axe important factors in this industrial constituency, led to a piqnant controversy with Lord Beaverbrook, who asserted that he would reduce the price of meat by sixpence.
