PALMERSTON NORTH HOSPITAL
SOME RESIGNATIONS. Dr Whitaker, who ha® been admitted to the management of the Whitaker Almanac Proprietary, London (writes the “Times” correspondent), handed in his resignation as a member of the Palmerston North Hospital Board and the hospital staff. The doctor Is also retiring from practice immediately. At the last boarh dmeeting Mrs G. Gill also intimated that she would not seek re-election in April, and said adieu to her colleagues. Mrs Gill was the first lady member of the board, and her knowledge of hospital affairs soon made her one of the most remarkably industrious members of the board. Her sensible criticism, too, showed that a woman oould discuss public affairs with all the confidence of a man. Sir. James Wilson (chairman) expressed the pleasure they had in having Mrs Gill associated with them. They realised that in these times a woman was a necessity on a hospital board. In referring to Dr Whitaker’s services, the chairman said that everyone would admit that the doctor had been of great servioe .on the board, and had done great work in bringing the hospital up to its present standard.
