ST. PATRICK’S DAY

SPLENDID PROGRAMME. The committee in charge of the arrangements for the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations announce that the procession will start from Featherston street ;i ucl all those intending to take part are asked to assemble at the rear of the Government Buildings at 9 a.m. in order that the judges may select the winners of the various tableaux before the procession starts. 1 It is seldom that the people of Wellington have an opportunity of seeing a display given by over 1000 well-train-ed children, and it is anticipated that the attendance at the Newtown Park on Thursday next will be a record one. The entries for the athletic events which are to be run under the auspices of the N Z.A.A.A., are very large, and the handicapping has been left in the capable hands of Mr Kitto. The dancing events should prove a great attraction, . and a specially selected judge of danoing has been engaged from the ■■Auckland district for these events The children taking part in the procession are to be catered for free of charge. In the evening a national concert, at which the very best talent procurable will take part. A bumper house is expected, and patrons should book their seats without delay in order to .ensure accommodation. Mr Whittle will act as accompanist, and Mr Braund’s Orchestra will supply the orchestral numbers.
