Mr R. B. Jackson, of Nelson, is at present on a visit to Wellington. Messrs C. M. Duke (chairman) and A. J. Maxwell (member), of the Wellington Price Investigation Tribunal, will leave Wellington on Monday, 14tli instant, to make investigations at Ohakune, Taihape, and Raetihi. The tribunal will return to Wellington on Saturday, 19th instant. Owing to pressure of business, Mr M. J. Reardon (member) will not accompany the tribunal on this itinerary. Dr. F. W. Hilgendorf has stated to the Canterbury Agricultural College Board that he wouM like to take a trip to Kurooe soon, if leave could be arranged. The board replied to the effect that it would be pleased to grant leave if suitable plans could be made for carrying on his work. The body also took the opportunity of congratulating Dr. Hilgendorf on his election as a Rellow of the New Zealand Institute. Any pronouncement respecting, the cost of living is invested with a good deal of interest, and this applies with all the more force to a statement from the president of 'the Arbitration Court, remarks the “Otago Daily Times.” Speaking in respect to an application for the bonus, Mr Justice Frazer said it was not to be expected that when prices returned to a permanent level of values they would come back to what they were before the war. From the point of view of the consumer it was probable that prices would not recede to within a lowei level tlhan 20 per cent, or 25 per cent, of the pre-war rates.
