FINAL TO-DAY

RESULT OF YESTERDAY S COMPETITIONS

INTERESTING PERSONAL DETAILS

(FROM "N.Z. TIMES" SPECIAL REPORTER.)

TRENTHAM, Last Night. Tho Dominion Rule Association 1921 meeting will be concluded to-morrow (Friday), v hen the final for the champion belt will be fired in the afternoon in the presence of His Excellency the Governor-General (Viscount Jellicoe) and Lady Jellicoe. The Seddpn range will be used for the King’s Prize, and the distance is 1000 yards. It is probable that never in any previous year has the contest created so much interest. Captain A. Nielson, of Meanee, Hawke’s Bay, and Riflemen E. E. Vennei! (Te Wliarau), and H. V. Croxton (Karori), the present champion, head the aggregate list. Each has a score of 513, and there are so many other marksmen who are close up to the leaders that the issue is in doubt. Much depends on the weather conditions, ana should it so happen that the wind is tricky any on® of the first ten of the fifty contestants has a chance of securing the honours. There is already a considerable amount of speculation in camp as to who the ultimate winner will be, and there is evidence of the conclusion of the shoot being fraught with great excitement. The prizes won at -the meeting will be piosented by Her Excellency Visoountess Jellicoe, during l the afternoon, and a large gathering of visitors from Wellington is expected to be present. This morning when the marksmen assembled at the squadding-pasts Colonel R. J. Collins, chief executive officer, who retires from the position at the conclusion of the meeting, took the opportunity of congratulating the competitors on the excellent manner in which they had gone through with the meeting, despite the trying weather conditions that had been, experienced at the start. He thanked them for the assistance that had been accorded him in carrying out the duties appertaining to his position, and expressed a hope that they would all meet again at Trentliam in 1922.
