A terrible tragedy occurred to-night, three children losing their lives as tho result of a fire in a dwellinghouse in Nibblet street. Their names are: Frederick Arthur Bishop, aged six years and a half. Lloyd George Bishop, aged four years. Gordon Harold Bishop, aged - two years. Eight children were in the house, in charge of a Miss Gray, the mother having gone to a neighbour’s. The brigade was on the scene in good time, but the flames had a good hold). On learning that children were in the house, the brigadesnien. searched in a smoke-filled room and found the bodies of the children named. Evidently they were dead long before the alarm was given. For some time consternation was caused by a report that five more children were in the building, but it was later discovered that a neighbour had rescued them, though one was so badly burned that she had te be sent to the hospital. The origin of the fire is not known.
