The death occurred in Auckland a few days ago of Airs Jane Reid Laing, of Titirangi, in her eighty-sixth year. Mrs Laing was born at Gowen, Scotland, and arrived at- Auckland in the sailing ship Joseph Fletcher, on October loth, 18-55, with her parents, th# late Mr and Airs A. M. Somerville.

He was met by the Mayor (Air AY. Snodgrass) and the secretary of the band committee (Mr C. Leaner). This is Air Wade’s first visit to Nelson, and he has been most favourably impressed by the climatic conditions and the natural beauty of the surroundings. At the meeting of the board of managers of the Petone Technical School, the chairman (Air D. AlcKenzie), in moving that tho resignation of the director (Mr J. H. Lynskey) be accepted with deep regret, stated that the service he had given everyone had been of the best. “He has helped many a one to a high position,” said the speaker, “and I feel quite sure we will miss him very much.
