CHAMPION OF CHAMPION PAIRS. VICTORIA DEFEATS PETONE. The final of the champion of champion pairs was played ou the Wellington green yesterday afternoon between Victoria (Tucker and liolton) and Petone (Mudge and Melhuish). The green was in good order, but a strong southerly wind made the conditions a trifle difficult. The Victoria pair, who had the i advantage of having played six heads to complete the semi-finals there, picked the strength of the green much jnore quickely than their opponents did. Victoria soon established a commanding lead, and at the conclusion of the twelfth head the score was 24 to 7 in their favour. On the thirteenth head, •hanks to driving by Bolton, Petone added eix to tlieir total, making the scores— Victoria 2-1, Petone 18. For the remainder of the game Petono held a slight advantage, hut were able to increase their score by only five singles, as against a -wo and a one notched by Victoria. The 6nar^score, at the conclusion of the twentieth head, was Victoria 27, Petono 18. . -After the game the winners and runners-up were congratulated by the president of the centre (Mr F. Meadowcroft), and at his invitation, cheers were given for them. CENTRAL' CLUB.
