PALMERSTON 'DEVIATION
COMMISSION'S POWERS EXTENDED. The powers <aiui functions of the Commission which is inquiring into the suitability of the railway facilities at Palmerston North* have oeen extended b.v notice appearing in the "Gazette" to include an investigation as to whether it is desirable and expedient and warranted by the public interest that any deviation of the Wellington-New Plymouth railway .should be made between Paekakariki and Matrton; and, if so, between what points such deviation should be madey The time within which the Commission has to report the result of its sittings to the Minister for Rai]\v*aye has been extended to April 14th.
