A PROFITABLE SEASON. FUTURE~PROSPECT'»It was stated at last liight’a meeting of the Wellington Rugby Union that the profit on last year’s working was -£9-44 19s lOd. With interest accrue tb date tthe total deposits amounted to -£3201, which, with the bank balance of Al4O and sundry debtors £92 4s (all good), in all 3433, was £2191 in excess of the union’s outside liabilities (loan £I9OO an! sundry creditors £242). The value of the leasehold property was increased by The gate receipts at Athletic Park totalled £5281, -as compared with £3211 last season. A featre of the year was the amount to* which outside bodies benefited by matches played under the union’s auspices. The special gymnasium match, Petone v Poneke, returned to senior clubs i 215. . . . . The net gate at the Roya.l match wis £663, which was handed to the City Council to form a new playing area at "Salisbury terrace. THE COMING SEASON. The prospects for the coining seoson wern most encouraging, and it should prove ono of tho most memorable in the union’s history. The long-looked-for visit of the South African Intercolonial team would take place this year In senior championship grade matches Hi was anticipated that close a.nd sti-nnng contests would eventuate, and there was little doubt that the attendance at machest would be higher than those of last year.
