A SHORT-LIVED WAR

COSTA RICA FORCES SURRENDER. » Australian and N.Z. Cabin Association. WASHINGTON, February 28. The Panama Legation announces that the Costa Rican force® which invaded Panama territory in connection with the boundary dispute, have surrendered to the Panama troops. A message from Washington, dated February 27th, stated: It is reported that a state of war exists between Costa Rica and Panama over the boundary dispute. The situation is further aggravated by Costa Rieka’s action in cancelling the British oil concession. Britain has sent a Note and a cruiser to back up the demands. It is not expected that Britain will take forcible action without notifying the United States, but such notification has not yet been given. It is understood that the United States sides with Costa Rica, claiming the concession granted by the discredited Tinoco Government.
