STRANGE CASE OF ESMONDE. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright, SYDNEY, February 28. The Alakura will probably sail on Thursday. Osmond Grattan Esmonde is aboard The visitor states that he will not be allowed to land in Canada unless he pays for an armed guard. Probably lie will be sent back to Australia. The Commonwealth had billed him for an armed guard, but he had not pa id. When Esmonde reached Auckland by the Alakura the authorities barred him under the Undesirable Immigrants Act. He was also forbidden to land in Australia and since the Alakura arrived at Sydney, he has virtually been a prisoner on the vessel because he declined to take the oath of allegiance. Esmonde said he was visiting Australia in connection with Irish affairs.
