A most tempestuous passage from the Chatham Islands was experienced by the Chatham Islands Fishing Company’s steamer Rama, which arrived at Lyttelton on Tuesday night. Captain Cartner describes the trip as one of the roughest he has ever experienced. Leaving Waitangi at 6 p.m. on Saturday, the Rama struck the full force of the gale at midnight. < It increased® during the early hours of Sunday morning, and the vessel was hove-to for twenty hours on Sunday. The weather was so thick that no observations could be taken and the vessel was blown 50 miles out of her course. Captain Cartner as enthusiastic about the seaworthiness of his row command, and stated that, even though the weather was all on her beam, the vessel neveir shipped anything worse than spray. The Rama brought 12 passengers from the islands, who naturally had a very rough time. She also brought 1250 sheep, and the casualties among these were remarkably light considering the nature of the weather which the vessel experienced, but a number had to be' thrown overboard. The Rama left Lyttelton last evening for "tho Chathams to bring back more sheep to Lyttelton. THE KUMARA. The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Kumiara berthed at New Plymouth at 3 p.m. on Wednesday for Homeward loading. The vessel is to leave there on Tuesday or Wednesday for Wanganui roadstead and Wellington, to fill up. ARMAGH LEFT COLON. The Federal Line have been notified by oable that the Armagh left Colour on January 26th for Liverpool, in continuation of her voyage from Wellington. WHAKATANE .LEFT LONDON.
