ABOUT A HEIFER
QUESTIOX OF OWNERSHIP. CLAIM SUCCEEDS AT LOWER HUTT. A question concerning the identity of a h-rifer aiwe in an action heard before Air F. K. Hunt, S.M.7at Lower Hutt Court yesterday, when Charles FeU titt (Mr E. F. Bunny), slaughterman butcher of Normandale, prooeeda* against Alexander Lee (Mr P. W. Jackson), dairyman, of Hutt, in a claim for the return of a black, and white Holstein. heifer of the value of JE3O. end alleged to have been detained by the defendant from about October let. Plaintiff stated that bfe had demanded the heifer from the defendant, but the latter had refused to deliver the same. He therefore claimed for the possession of the heifer or tye sum of j£2o and -£lO as damages for its detention. It was stated that the plaintiff had identified the heifer bv her brand as belonging to him. For the defendant it was contended that the heifer belong to and was the rightful property of the defendant, and that ho had not detained any stock belonging to the plaintiff at any time. At the conclusion of the ev.Jence His Worship gave jurgraent for plaintiff and ordered the defendant to return the heifer to the plaintiff, as he was satisfied that the heifer belonged to the latter.
