SLUMP IN BUILDING

Reuter’s Telegram, LONDON, January The Clyde shipbuilders declare that the high cost of production is not the only factor in the shipbuilding slump. The sale of four hundred German ships by the Government has also helped to kill the new shipbuilding business. Not a single new order has been received in 1921. The builders are submitting to the Government that 300,000 tons of shipping still due from Germany is not wanted by Great Britain.
