‘WORK OF THE CLINIC. The work done in the clinic for venereal diseases during the past month was tho basis of a, report by Dr B. F. Aldred, which was presented yesterday to the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. Referring to syphilis, he stated: “There were 6ix new cases reported, five male and one female None Were recent infections. There are now 202 male cases and 42 female cases attending for treatment, 12 being seamen, ana the balance local cases. The figures are:—Males: Number of old cases attending 120; number of new cases seen, 5; total 125. Females: Number of old cases attending, 30; number of new cases seen, 1; total, 31 Of gonorrhoea, he stated:—'‘The number of new cases reported during the month of December were mostly fresh-ly-infected cases, that reported fo» advice and treatment as soon as signs of infection became evident. There were 23 local cases, and three seamen. A number of old-standing cases reported, but on investigation required no treatment. These are not taken into count. There are now 49 male cases, and five female cases, attending for treatment The figures are:—Males: New cases seen, 26; old cases seen, 49; treatments given by self. 120; treatments given by attendants, 564. Females-* New cases seen, 2; old cases seen, 3; treatments given by self, 12. Inpatients: Number in ward, 8; admitted, 4; discharged, 3. .
