DETAILS OF AUSTRALIAN TEAM’S TOUR. PER PRESS A SOOOIATTOK. CHRISTCHURCH, January 27. At a meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council to-night, it wan decided to ask the Hon. Sir Francis Bell to represent the council in England, and to negotiate for the visit of an English team some time next year. Referring to the visit of the Australian team Mr F. C- Raphael eaid it had been first thought that the Australian players would not require out-of-pocket expenses, but the council had decided to allow each man 5s per day for this purpose. The Australian Board of Control, however, could not accept that amount,-and the sum had been increased to 10s dally. The council bad done its best to make the tour a success, and to secure the -cream of Australian oricket. It was hoped that the results should be to improve the game I throughout New Zealand. Mir J. F. Peake (secretary) said that £2600 was the estimated cost of the tour, the sum of £2300 being guaranteed, and the council having to find the balance. The council would be responsible for the two test matches and for the minor association, match. Mr Raphael said that it (had been found impossible to arrange for a test match in the -South, Island. It waa thought that the Ninth Island was entitled to the two test maohes, as the two champion teams, Auckland and Wellington, were in the North Island. LOCA eTIxATES FIXED.
