SPORTS MEETING

CARTERTON CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.

The Carterton Caledonian Society and Amateur Athletic Club will Inijgl a sports meeting on February 3rd. The. nominations close on Tuesday, January 25th. The prize money is good. The Caledonian Handicap,, 100, 220, 440 and 880 yards, is worth in total prize money .£2B, including points prizes of £B. The committee have reduced the entrance fee to\ a maximum of 2s for each event. Competitors can leave by the morning train on the day of the sports as the Mile is timed to be run at 11.45 and the first event of the Handicap at 12. The meeting is showing signs of being a huge success. The Carterton Silver Band and Masterton Pipe Band will he in attendance. Competitors or spectators who wish to return by tho late train on Saturday night must apply early so that tho department may be asked to attach a passenger ear.
