The Hon. ,J. G. Ooates (Minister for Public Works') leaves Wellington for Blenheim on Friday night to commence his tour of the South ■ Island. It is the Minister’s intention to visit all the principal public works—railways, roads, bridges, etc.—now in course of construction, and to make investigations lon the spot in rega rd to the various hydro-electrio schemes proposed for the South Island.
