THE INCREASED FARES. SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING. A special meeting of the Wellington City Council will be held, this evening, far the purpose of further considering the matter of tramway affairs, finance, and maiagemont.' . The council lore were advised of a meeting called for January sth, but os there was not a quorum present no business was done. Subsequently, however, a requisition signed by Councillors Chapman, Wright, Burns., J. M. Dale, Shorland, McKenzie, and Hutchison was handed to the Tcivn Clerk, asking “that a commission of' irquiry be appointed to take evidence 1 and make recommendations with a view of securing economy in tramways adn inistration. ” This motion will be considered at this evening’s meeting.
