KILLED BY MOTOR GAR
DEATH OF MS. A. T. MAILE. CORONER'S VERDICT TO BE GIVEN THIS MORNING. The inquest, concering the .death ol Mr Alfred Talbot Maile, fruiterer, ol Kelburn, .following injuries rece.vec through being struck down in Courtenay Place by a, motor-car, driven by William Arthor Webb, was concluded in the Magistrate's Court yesterday by the coroner, Mr J. S. Evans, S.M. •John Ernest Kidner, who hod been recalled in order to state the position of the band. cart, said that when, he saw tho hand cart standing before it began to move across the road, it TCas about the middle of the hoarding in Courtenay Place. It was standing on the footpath. When the man Anderson started to move the ■ hand cart he pushed it straight over the fcert into the street. He had got aboui three feet into the road when witnesi saw tho car come along and almost collide with him. When the car started the first swerve the right hand wheels would bo about on the first tram line. Witness had been standing on the corner for about ten minutes, and did not notice the hand cart.until it started to movo out into the road. The man with the hand cart was not clear of the kerbing at the time the car passed him. Witness did not see any cars or procession of cars going ahead of tho car which had the accident. !He saw two or three cars passing after the aocident, but could nol say whether they were- part of the wedding party. Witness emphatically contradicted the statement that three or four other cars passed just ahead of the one which collided with deceased. This concluding the evidence, the inquest was adjourned until 11 a-m, tCMlay, when the Coroner's verdict wil' be announced.
