The Trcntham racecourse has never looked better than it does at present, xc lawns and gardens are in beaiitmu condition, and the racing and training track, could hardly be in belter order. A great improvement has been made ito the birdcage at Trcntham. The old picket fence has been removed and an entirely now arrangement replaces it By a simple alteration three times as many people will now be able to see the horses parading. Tho increase of lawn space is another improvement that will be greatly appleeiated by the public who attend the coming Wellington meeting. The pushin" cut of the fence separating the lawns from tho course will relieve congestion and ghe to those who get shut out of the stands better opportunities of seeing tb© events. With the approach of the Masterton an 1 Wellington meetings track work at Trenlham is becoming more than usually interesting. On Saturday there was a lair amount of galloping, and several of the horses engaged in coming events look to be well forward. Blackmail was sent, a four-furlong spin on Saturday morning. She ran the distance in JO l-Ssec, and went well. Moutnihi and Esperancs were cent seven furlongs. Eiaoranw found some difficulty in keeping with her companion over the first couple of furlongs, but did no) finish far behind. She has also ridden in flat races, and on one occasion at Medlow Bath, won an event for lady riders, in which one horsewoman rode side-saddle. When residing in the country Miss Mutton was "head lad” for her father’s stable.
