"GAMBLING IN LIVES”
SHIP' LOST THROUGH WILFUL ACT. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. \ (Received October 11, 12.15 a.m.) LONDON, October 10. The Board of Trade inquiry into the loss of tjio Glendalough near Belfast Lough has been .delivered. The court found the loss was due to the wilful act of Captain Plummer, acting in concert with William James Jones, the owner, who insured' the vessel for £OO,OOO, though the value, including her cargo was only £17,000. “Jones recklessly, wickedly gambled not only for money, but in the lives of men.” 'He was ordered to pay_ the costs of the inquiry, namely, £2500, and Plummer’s certificate was cancelled. The evidence is being forwarded to the Public Prosecutor with a view _to bringing alleged criminals to Justice,
